Christmas in July Bazaar

THE JULY BAZAAR – A BLESSED DAY!
Despite the remnants of Hurricane Beryl, our church’s
Christmas in July Bazaar was a great success! Members
of our congregation, community, relatives, friends, (and
a lady from Wyoming!) came out to check out our
crafts, plants, food, silent auction, etc. A group of
about six or seven people (along with the minister)
came from our sister church in Seaford to support
us! How blessed we were!!!!
The Bethany volunteers were workers!! The day before
the bazaar we had helpers who set up and decorated
the fellowship hall. Other members repotted plants,
cut flowers and veggies, and divided plants for selling.
On the day of the bazaar, we had members of our
congregation manning tables, the kitchen window, the
library where plants were housed, and talking with
visitors. Pastor greeted and shared with community
members at his Meet the Minister table.
We had women who, for months, had been working on
ornaments, quilts, aprons, wreaths, angels for trees,
puppy treat jars, toy soldiers, bird feeders, cozies,
carolers, and so much more! We had women who
baked peanut butter fudge, a blueberry pie, rolled
cakes, bars, loaves, brownies, blackberry cobblers,
gourmet cupcakes, cookies, muffins, and, of course,
Harriet’s delicious empanadas and egg rolls!
The silent auction tables included so many people and
businesses behind the scenes, prior to the day of the
bazaar. Maggie Young, Barbara Meilhammer, and Lee
Schilling tirelessly went to numerous businesses in
Salisbury and Ocean City requesting donations and
found them to be extremely generous! We are so
grateful to the businesses that supported our fundrais-
ing effort. Maggie’s creatively themed baskets’ descrip-
tions appealed to many attendees and every basket had
bids!!! Ken and Sarah, as well as vendors from the area,
also sold their Christmas decorations and other wares.
After the bazaar concluded, Gary and Dave began
breaking down the rooms, returning tables and chairs
to their storage places, cleaned the floor, and helped
with anything that needed to be done. Several other
members stayed and helped pack up items belonging to
others, put things away, took down quilts, and loaded
cars.
One more note, we were greatly supported by Pepsi
and Sub Runners. Pepsi supplied 10 cases of drinks and
Sub Runners provided all of the subs and chips for our
bazaar. What blessings they were!
Thanks to all of you who helped with this bazaar! Not
only did it bring in needed funds for upcoming projects,
but it brought together the congregation and
community. It was indeed a God-blessed day!!!! Praise
be to God

LET’S DO IT AGAIN!!!
Last year’s Bazaar was such a blessing to us. Your
generosity as a congregation truly showed God’s loving
Spirit among us. The event brought us together as a
church family and was a wonderful opportunity to meet
the community and show them how welcoming and
Christ-filled we can be. So, let’s do it again!!!

CALLING ALL MEMBERS!
Do you, or someone you know,
own or manage a local business?
Are you a “regular” at your
favorite restaurant? Do you love
taking out-of-town visitors to
some of your favorite local
attractions, museums and
activities so they can see all the
best things about the Eastern
Shore? If your answer is yes, we
could really use your help putting together items for the
silent auction being held at our Christmas in July event!
Last year’s auction was a very successful part of the
day, and this year’s goal is to build on that success. Our
focus will be on gathering donations for prizes that
have a more widespread appeal for our shoppers and
bidders – for example, a family staycation package, a
car care and maintenance package, a wine lover’s tour
of the Shore or a home improvement bundle.
You can be an important part of making our silent
auction a success! Can you think of someone you know
who might be willing to donate a service, an item or gift
certificate, or an activity from their business? Would
you be willing to pick an idea or theme, and then call or
visit local businesses to request donations related to
that theme? Can you ask your employer, your
hairdresser, mechanic, florist or your favorite store if
they would like to donate? If each member of Bethany
made just one or two donation requests, it would have
an amazing effect on our prize selection. That old saying
is really true – many hands make light work. Can you
please lend a hand?
Please contact Maggie Young at 410 251-6502 if you
can help. You can phone or send a text message at any
time of day. Donation request letters that you can give
to local businesses will be available in the narthex
